The LPG For Development Summit or LPG4DEV is an annual event co-hosted by WLPGA and the Global LPG Partnership (GLPGP) that seeks to highlight the role LPG has to play in all areas of energy access and development.

The event which includes stakeholders from the LPG industry, the development community, multi-lateral institutions,

global NGOs, government and academics is the premier annual event on the global calendar which analyses issues such as the benefits of switching from various form of biomass such as charcoal and so called traditional fuels for cooking to clean burning LPG.

This year’s event will be held on Monday 2nd November in the afternoon.

This will be the fourth LPG4DEV Summit building on successful prior events in 2017 in Marrakech where Rachel Kyte, CEO of Sustainable Energy for All (SE4ALL) gave a rousing keynote, Houston, Texas in 2018 and last year in Amsterdam where the Summit built on the outcomes from the first World Health Organization Global Conference on Air Pollution and Health, in which the serious health impacts on and high levels of mortality of millions of households from the continued use of polluting biomass fuels for cooking was highlighted. This included calls for, and commitments to, stepped up public and private sector engagement and resources needed to help reach both UN SDG3 on health and SDG7 on modern energy access by 2030.

What to Expect?

There will be a broad discussion from the gathered experts on the many facets of LPGs role in the development context. With Clean cooking is now recognised as an urgent area for action, leading international organisations like the World Bank and WHO are committing to act to improve clean fuel access. Developing countries want LPG.

The industry must strive to make clean cooking a priority in both the energy sector and the health sector; relying on the business case to develop organically is not enough.

Why Should you be Part?

To learn what is happening in the LPG industry in terms of development and where potential future opportunities are.
